I am a sucker for
french provincial furniture,
anything with caning,
and antiques re-purposed to their true beauty.
When I had a booth in a vintage/antique store, I purchased pieces I would want in my home and wanted to share my love of these items with others. I figured if I like them, and they like my style, then they will like what I pick too.
There were some pieces I wanted to keep. I would tell my husband,
“oh yeah, this is going to sell for sure”.
Then I decided I couldn’t let it go.
I’d either pull it off the floor or never let it get there.
This happened with so many pieces. Then I realized I am too emotionally involved in my purchases and have a hard time letting them go.
I enjoyed fixing them up and thought about how the owners were going to use pieces in their space.
That was fun…
letting it go was hard.
So… here I am with one of those pieces.
I let this gorgeous daybed go on Craigslist over the weekend.
Ugh! I sold it for a song too.
Originally we wanted to put it in our “lounge” and use it for a guest daybed.
Problem? We couldn’t fit it up the stairs and around the corner.
I used it for our Outdoor Movie Birthday Party ,
put it in our living room for awhile, and eventually kept it stored in our garage.
I had big plans for it.
I was going to re-cane or upholster it, put a huge down filled pillow-top on the bed, and cover it with linen.
As it sat in my garage, taking up what my husband would call “prime real estate“, I kept thinking it would be great for a wedding or photographer’s photos. Someone else could be using it and enjoying it so it’s best to let it go.
Now all I have is pictures.
I know, I know…
it doesn’t have a heartbeat, so get over it!
The truth of the matter is…
this daybed may be around a lot longer than all of us.
(I am teaching Ancient History to my kiddos now… yep, we are in our second day of home school).
So, as sad as I am to let go of this piece, I am happy to share with you some new projects I am working on.
Out with the old and in with the new…
(I guess I should say out with the unused – you know how much I covet the old)
At Haven we received an amazing bag of swag.
I know… we were all a wee bit spoiled.
Included in the swag bag was two fabric samples from Online Fabric Store.
When I saw my sample I knew exactly what I was going to do with it.
I am looking forward to sharing this project with you.
Any ideas of what I might do? Don’t you just love the bird?
And the color matches a blanket I already owned.
The second project is my youngest son’s room.
He is a boy that always wants to make others laugh. He’s full of smiles and energy and has a unique personality that makes you want to give him a big, gigantic, hug when you see him.
Here is the starting off point for his room.
I am inspired by tone on tone and all white rooms, so this will be a challenge for me, but I am really looking forward to it.
He really wanted the polka dots, so that was a perfect start for what I hope to be an energetic and cheerful room.
Well there you have it.
A sneak peek into a couple projects to come.
I am looking forward to sharing them with you!
Do you have a piece of furniture you wish you would have held onto?
Or do you dispose of furniture without an emotional tie?
Have a super day and thanks for stopping by!
